Backup, recovery & old devices

Making sure important files are backed up, knowing how to get things working again when something goes wrong, and safely wiping old devices before you recycle, donate or sell them

Not sure if we can help? Just call and ask. Please note we don't repair broken hardware.

How it works

Getting help is simple

Call or send a message

Our receptionist makes a list of the issues you're calling about, then we match you with the technician best suited to help. Your technician calls you back, usually within a few hours and always within one business day, to find a day and time that suits you, including evenings and weekends.

We come to your home

Your technician arrives on time, works at your pace, and explains every step in plain English. There's no rush and no question is too basic to ask.

We're available afterwards

Forgot to ask something? Call us. Answering follow-up questions is part of our service, and we'll also leave you with easy-to-follow written notes.

Your safety comes first

Letting someone into your home, and giving them access to your computer, requires trust

Scammers often pretend to be “tech support.” Here's exactly how we're different, so you can feel completely comfortable.

You'll know who is coming

Before your visit, we'll send you the name and photo of your technician.

Background-checked technicians

Every House Call Tech technician has passed a background check, and we're fully insured.

We'll never call out of the blue

We'll never contact you unexpectedly about a “problem” with your computer. If anyone claiming to be us does, hang up and call (703) 940-5375.

No gift cards, no wire transfers

We only accept checks or credit cards at the time of service. We'll never ask for payment any other way.

Your passwords stay yours

We'll help you set up and store passwords safely, but we'll never keep or copy them.

Family is always welcome

A son, daughter or friend is welcome to sit in on the visit or join by phone.

Many of our visits are booked by sons and daughters, whether they live nearby or across the country. You can book and pay for the visit yourself, join by phone if you like, and we'll send you a short summary of what we did afterwards.

Our Concierge Plan, with four visits a year and a support hotline, also makes a thoughtful gift.
